Hardwood Floor Care
Below are simple tips for taking care of your hardwood floors.
Keep Your Hardwood Floors Clean
One of the best ways to protect your hardwood floors is to clean them regularly, so that dust and grime don't get ground into your flooring. For best results, vacuum, mop, or dust your floors weekly. Also, be sure to clean up spills and stains immediately, before they have a chance to penetrate the surface.
Use Furniture Pads
Furniture pads below table legs and chair legs can help prevent dings, dents, and scratches to hardwood flooring surfaces.
Spread Out Rugs And Runners
You can also help lessen wear and tear on your hardwood flooring by placing rugs and runners in high traffic areas.
Avoid Placing Plants Directly On Hardwood Floors
Water seepage, leakage, and overflow from houseplants can cause water damage to hardwood floors. To prevent this, put your plants on stands or elevated blocks, and take care when watering them.
Block Out Direct Sunlight
Direct sunlight, especially here in Colorado, can wreak havoc on hardwood floors. Use window coverings to block out direct sunlight and/or protect vulnerable areas of your hardwood floors by strategically placing area rugs and runners.
