FAQs About Hardwood Flooring
Below are some of the questions we're most frequently asked about hardwood floors.
Do You Perform Hardwood Floor Repairs?
We can fix just about any type of damage, small or large, on a hardwood floor. In almost every case, we can precisely match your flooring – the type of wood and color of stain.
Do You Repair Water Damage to Hardwood Floors?
We frequently are called in to repair water damage to hardwood floors. Depending on the extent of the water damage, we may need to tear out the damaged boards, wait up to 90 days for the subfloor to dry, and then proceed with repairs, sanding, and finishing.
Can You Do Something About My Traffic Path?
Depending on the extent of wear and tear caused by your traffic path, we may be able to simply buff your hardwood floor and give it a fresh coat of finish. If, however, the hardwood floor has turned gray or is worn down through the finish, we'll need to sand it, stain it (if you choose to apply stain), and finish it.
Can I Stay In The House While My Hardwood Floors Are Being Refinished?
When we reach the final stage of finishing your hardwood floors (which typically requires 2-3 coats of finish), we recommend that you move out of your house for 3-4 days, or move into your basement. We make this suggestion because movement and the opening and closing of doors can cause air to circulate, which can lead to fine particles settling into the finish of your hardwood floors.
What Types Of Products Should I Use To Clean My Hardwood Floors
Believe it or not, the simple, inexpensive concoction of vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 10 parts water) works very well at cleaning hardwood floors. In addition, we recommend the Bona line of hardwood flooring products.
